La Monastica Resort & Spa

The former monastery that fascinates painters and poets.

The Monastica di Buggiano, in Tuscany, is a structure that takes your breath away: a former monastery with a deconsecrated church transformed into a luxury hotel, an authentic historical jewel. Our journey with this customer began at the Riva del Garda trade fair in 2023, when the owner came to visit us at our stand. After that first meeting, he also came to the company and we discussed various quotations, but no order followed immediately.

But fate changed the cards: the owner and his daughter wanted to meet us in person to see if we would be willing to consider other projects in the pipeline. This unexpected request created quite a thrill for us in the design department when we shared with our team the details of the request: to design and produce seating for all the rooms in the facility and other communal areas, a dedicated model for each chosen room!

We met the owner and his daughter in Bergamo, the same people we had met at the fair, and their precise memory of us made the collaboration easier. Thanks to the available renders and information, we chose the fabrics directly on paper. The result was extraordinary: the combinations were perfect and the highly original fabrics ranged from iridescent velvets to velvets printed with tropical fauna motifs.

An unforgettable living experience.

Each room in the Monastery became a unique environment, with sofas and armchairs telling different stories through their designs. The particular furnishings, all different designs, created extraordinary spaces. The customer's satisfaction was palpable, so much so that they immediately placed another order with us to cover other spaces, including uncovered corners and cushions and upholstery for outdoor furniture.

The relationship with the owner's daughter became very informal, a sign of the mutual trust and respect built during this project. La Monastica is not just a hotel, it is a historic residence that breathes new life and luxury through every carefully planned detail, and we are proud to have contributed to this transformation.

Each room now tells a story, a mix of past and present that welcomes guests in an embrace of elegance and style. And for us, this collaboration represents another memorable chapter in our history of incredible opportunities.

01. Camera della Nobile

The Camera della Nobile is distinguished by its timeless elegance. The four Jefferson chairs, upholstered in a deep blue velvet, add a touch of sophistication. The iridescent blue cord creates a subtle contrast, enhancing the classic lines of the chairs. This play of colours and fabrics gives the room a refined atmosphere, perfectly in tune with the historic furnishings of the residence. Every detail has been taken care of to offer an unforgettable stay experience, where luxury and tradition blend harmoniously.

02. Camera della Badessa

The Camera della Badessa is an oasis of greenery and tranquillity. Here, six Moon chairs in green velvet create a harmonious ambience, perfectly combined with the forest-green velvet sofas made by another company. This mix of furnishings makes the room cosy and refined, where each element is elegantly integrated. The choice of classic green velvet gives a sense of freshness and naturalness, making guests feel immersed in a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The Camera della Badessa is the ideal place for those seeking comfort and style in a historic setting.

03. Camera della Castellana

The Camera della Castellana is a jewel of style and charm. A crumpled blue velvet Cloud armchair has been carefully placed next to a feature cupboard built in the attic. This armchair, in front of a beautiful wallpaper, creates a corner of pure beauty. The combination of materials and the choice of colours make this room unique and cosy. It is my absolute favourite picture, a snapshot of elegance and refined design that perfectly captures the essence of the historic home.

04. Camera della Ciamberlana

The Camera della Ciamberlana is a masterpiece of understated elegance. We used Tucson armchairs, made of dark walnut, with a backrest in both front and back featuring an olive green velvet print reminiscent of a python design, which is not perfectly defined. The plain olive green velvet seat and cord complete the ensemble, creating a fascinating and sophisticated contrast. This bold yet refined design adds a touch of modernity to the historic dwelling, making the Camera della Ciamberlana a place of unparalleled comfort and style.

05. Camera della Corista

The Camera della Corista is a triumph of brightness and sophistication. The dark walnut Cloud armchairs are upholstered in a shimmering gold velvet, lending a touch of luxury and warmth to the room. The pastel gold chosen for these armchairs creates an elegant contrast to the dark wood, enhancing every detail of the room. This mix of colours and materials makes the Chorister's Room a cosy place with irresistible charm, perfect for immersing oneself in an atmosphere of exquisite beauty.

06. Camera dell’Illuminata

The Camera dell'Illuminata is a true spectacle of liveliness and creativity. Two Austin armchairs are placed in front of a small table, creating a charming corner. The armchairs are upholstered in a bright yellow velvet, with exotic bird prints such as parrots and toucans on the backrest, while the rest is solid colour. This combination of bright colours and unique patterns gives the room a special energy, transforming it into a place of wonder and inspiration. The Camera dell'Illuminata is perfect for those looking for a touch of originality in an emotionally charged historical setting.

07. Camera della Medichessa

The Camera della Medichessa is an example of delicate elegance. Here, we chose the Bristol armchair, upholstered in a powder-blue velvet that gives the room a serene and refined atmosphere. To add a touch of luxury, the cord has been made in a gold hue, creating a sophisticated and luminous contrast. This combination of light blue and gold gives the Dressing Room a unique charm, where every detail is designed to offer a harmonious and relaxing visual experience.

08. Camera della Monacanda

The Monacanda Room is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Here, four Victoria armchairs in oxidised gold velvet, fading slightly towards green, are elegantly arranged. The contrast with the blue cord adds a touch of sophistication and originality. This play of colours creates a room full of character, where the oxidised gold gives an antique and noble look, while the blue adds a fresh and contemporary note. The Monacanda Room is a place where history and design meet in perfect harmony.

09. Camera della Papessa

The Papessa Room stands out for its functionality and style. Here, we placed two Chicago armchairs, adapted with a seat height of 48 cm, ideal for guests who wish to eat comfortably near the dining table. The velvet chosen has a classic and delicate print in shades of blue, while the seat and cord are in blue, recalling the representative colours of the structure, which are blue and orange. This combination of colours and details gives the Papessa Room an elegant and practical look, perfect for an unforgettable living experience.

10. Camera della Priora

The Camera della Priora is an example of boldness and sophistication. We placed four Zefiro armchairsupholstered in a deep purple stretch velvet. The cord, on the other hand, is made of a classic mauve velvet, creating a harmonious and visually appealing contrast. This mix of textures and shades makes the armchairs not only comfortable but also strikingly beautiful. The Prioress's Room is a place where vibrant colours and fine materials come together to offer an elegant and distinctive ambience.

11. Camera della Speziale

The Camera della Speziale exudes understated, delicate elegance. Here, we placed Bloom armchairs, all with walnut legs, which lend lightness and sophistication to the room. For the upholstery, a powder blue plain velvet was chosen, while the dark blue velvet cord creates a refined contrast. This combination of colours and materials gives the Apothecary's Room a quiet and cosy atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing stay in a luxurious historic residence.

12. The Hall

The lobby of Hotel La Monastica is a true masterpiece of design and functionality. Here, where guests can enjoy breakfast or lunch, we have placed three Chicago sofaswith oak-coloured legs that perfectly match the beautiful floor of the hall. The sofas are upholstered in a printed velvet with a pattern reminiscent of a peacock's tail in shades of red and blue, while the seats are in plain red velvet.

Not knowing initially that the sofas would be used for the dining room, the seating was too low. To solve this problem and ensure maximum comfort for guests during meals, we made 10 cm high cushions, two in shades of red and one in blue. These cushions not only raise the seating, but also add a touch of colour and further elegance to the ambience. The lobby, with its Chicago sofas, is now a cosy and refined space, where every detail is designed to offer an unforgettable guest experience.
