Sport Romantic Plaza

Ecology and elegance: the new essence of the Hotel Sport Romantic Plaza.

Romantic, for sure, even if it's not my style; welcoming, cheerful, and visually striking, the Sport Romantic Plaza hotel certainly piqued my aesthetic curiosity.

Initially approached by the owner about renovating the restaurant's furnishings with classic-style finishing and upholstery products, to our surprise, he specifically requested a completely custom finish for a chair, one whose frame was neither lacquered nor polished. Instead, he requested a natural wax finish. This was highly unusual for high-traffic seating, but it was decidedly eco-friendly.

We played it safe by choosing models from the classic collection that have distinguished us over the years, such as the Andromeda chair (BS133S), Gonzaga (BS068S), Mantova (BS062S) and the Rustica stool (BS132B).

We tested various types of waxes and application methods. The end result, though delicate, is truly pleasing to the touch and to the eye. The backrest structure is made entirely of solid wood with vertical slats glued together, sanded, and allowed to expand naturally before final assembly. This very delicate process allows the wood to fully develop its fibers, thus avoiding the risk of the slat joints becoming visible over time.

Satisfied with the work, they requested some contemporary armchairs from the Olympia collection (BS600A) for the hall, in eco-nubuck with an elephant skin effect print, and some stools in solid slatted wood with seats in printed pony skin with a cowhide effect; a decidedly whimsical result, certainly, but I must admit that they work well with the overall decor.
