Albergo Contrin

Sincerity is always appreciated.

The Contrin Hotel, run with almost maniacal precision by siblings Giorgio, Elena and Edith, is a true oasis of tradition and hospitality. I still remember the first time I crossed the hotel threshold to distribute our catalogue. Giorgio, with the air of someone who knows exactly how to handle every detail, was fiddling with pen and paper while engaged in a seemingly endless telephone conversation with a computer technician. Unable to leave, I stood there waiting, in a silent game of patience that seemed never-ending.

After a long ‘quarter of an hour’, I finally managed to leave the catalogue and say goodbye. To my surprise, some time later, Giorgio called me back, appreciating my patience and kindness. The time had come to renovate the dining room, and after looking at several samples, the choice fell on our Lione model. The existing benches, in a brown fabric with yellow leaf motifs, were combined with an orange velvet with a brown cord, a touch of elegance and colour that breathed new life into the room. The legs of the chairs, initially in doubt between natural and black, were dyed walnut, creating a perfect harmony with the furniture.

Not content with just the restaurant, they decided to renovate the bar area as well. Six Woodbridge chairs, in walnut colour and Dove grey eco-nubuck fabric, were chosen to create a cosy and refined corner. And then, the twist: the Tromso model, with armchairs and a backrest decorated with elegant houndstooth pied de poule, added a touch of class to the bar.

Everything seemed perfect, but then we outgrew it.

Everything seemed perfect, until Giorgio called me again, expressing his disappointment at the old benches remaining unchanged. So, we embarked on a new project, renovating them too with a plain-coloured seat and houndstooth backrest, in perfect harmony with the Tromso.

In the end, the coloured cushions added by the brothers did not meet my personal taste, and I did not feel like lying when asked for my opinion on the matter. Fortunately for me, Mr Contrin, with his great kindness, is one of those people who appreciate sincerity! He reassured me, telling me that everyone in the family was satisfied with the end result. And I must admit that this unique and fascinating mix of styles really brightened up the ambience of his hotel.
