Matching benches and armchairs.
Hotel La Baita in Fondo Piccolo, Folgaria, contacted us after seeing our catalogue and hearing about us. We too had heard of the brothers Alessandro and Ervin Rech, and we know that they are known for their extreme dedication when it comes to choosing the details of a piece of furniture.
The project was to redo the stube, no mean feat considering the high expectations of the owners. After several meetings and discussions, the choice fell on the Jefferson model for the armchairs, using two types of fabric with an antique effect in shades of purple and mauve. Personally, at first sight I would never have chosen those colours, perhaps because I imagined them too dark for such a cosy environment, but I let myself be influenced by the owners' enthusiasm, and I must admit the result is very pleasant and original. However, the most complex aspect of the project was to transform the wooden benches, which were rather uncomfortable without cushions, into more comfortable seats without spending a fortune. The solution was ingenious: we created cushions as long as the benches, with Velcro sewn underneath to secure them firmly. The bench had a small hollow in the middle, which we thought we would fill with one side of a full-length strip of Velcro, while the other side we sewed onto the cushions.
A great engineering solution!
The shape of the upholstery was tailor-made to fit perfectly into the wall slots. Quite a demanding tailoring job, as the extent of the seats ranged from 5 to 7 metres. The result? Perfectly fitting cushions, as long as five or seven metres, some with protruding column slots. A precision job that also pleased Alessandro.
The result was excellent: they liked the chairs so much that when we went to document the project with the photographer, four were missing because Alessandro used them in his home!
The velvet used is a flame-retardant, washable printed velvet with an antique mixed streaked effect, perfect for the rustic and refined ambience of the hotel.
The project at Hotel La Baita overcame initial difficulties and the extreme meticulousness of the owners, proving to be a genuine success. Our priority is always customer satisfaction, and seeing their enthusiasm repays us for all our efforts.
