A historic embrace of the contemporary.
Villa Donini is one of those projects that stays in the heart. The client discovered us at the Rimini trade fair, without even taking a catalogue or leaving a business card. He called us saying he had seen us at the fair, but we did not have his references. I found out later that they had participated in the ‘4 Hotel’ show and came second, so much so that before the appointment, I watched the episode to study the location.
At the appointment, we were faced with an intriguing challenge: to furnish the breakfast room, a beautiful veranda made entirely of glass with an English green frame. The previous wicker chairs were now ruined, and the change was necessary. The meeting was long and complex, as we had to agree on five people. Everyone had different ideas, but they all agreed on the expectations of the end result!
In the end, after much discussion and consideration, we managed to come up with a design that everyone agreed on. We opted for the Lione armchairs for the smaller tables, while for the larger side tables, the Bristol armchair and Cloud armchairs were the final choice. On the sides, we added two Chicago model sofas, specially modified with higher seats to serve as dining chairs.
Sparkling armchairs and chairs to give energy and vigour to the new hall!
Before the order was confirmed, we prepared a detailed rendering, allowing the family to visualise the final result with 90% accuracy. The choice of colours was another crucial aspect: three shades of the same velvet - dove grey, bright yellow and petrol, Lucia's favourite colour.
The end result was exciting for everyone. The colour combination created a cosy, vibrant space that met all expectations. Despite the formal relationship during the negotiation, once the project was finished, we had the opportunity to have lunch with Lucia's parents. It was a pleasant moment, during which they told us about their experience with the ‘4 Hotel’ programme.
The project at Villa Donini was a perfect example of how collaboration, patience and attention to detail can turn a simple breakfast room into a jewel of design. Not only did we create a functional and beautiful space, but we also had the opportunity to meet some really welcoming and special people.
