Thanks to word of mouth from Patrizio and Oscar, the owners of the Costabella Hotel in Moena, Hotel Foresta contacted us. They needed to renovate their dining room and restaurant, replacing the seating and benches. The relationship with the owners, Walter and Riccardo, was very cordial. After a couple of visits, they decided on the Ticino model, with a brown eco-nubuck seat and eco-nubuck backrest with a modern linen-effect print in a light blue.
I remember having some doubts when we saw the finished chairs in our sampling lab; I thought the color palette wasn't optimal. However, once they were contextualized in the hotel setting, the result was surprisingly beautiful. The seat was made slightly higher than usual, extending the legs, while we kept the existing stitching on the benches.
A unique aspect of this project is that the hotel never closes. So we agreed on a week during which they would vacate the room. On Monday, we picked up the benches, took them to the workshop to be remade, and returned them on Friday morning, ready to be used on Saturday for breakfast.
Good design that has been able to transform ideas into reality.
One of the funniest anecdotes of this project was Mr. Walter's meticulousness in determining the exact number of chairs to produce. At each meeting to manage the various phases of the project, we counted and recounted together the ideal number of seats to arrange in the room: once 18, then 19, then 20, and so on, to be absolutely sure of the exact number. In the end, I think we counted them dozens of times!
Despite initial uncertainty and numerous checks, the final result exceeded expectations. This project once again demonstrated the ability of good design to transform ideas into reality, adding timeless elegance and impeccable precision. Thus, Hotel Foresta welcomed its guests into a renovated and refined environment, ready for new adventures.
