Interlocking and swapping benches and armchairs.

The Hotel La Baita in Fondo Piccolo, Folgaria, contacted us after seeing our catalog and hearing about us. We'd also heard about brothers Alessandro and Ervin Rech, and we know they're renowned for their meticulous attention to detail when it comes to choosing the perfect furnishings.

The project involved renovating the stube, a significant undertaking considering the owners' high expectations. After several meetings and discussions, the Jefferson model was chosen for the armchairs, using two types of antique-effect fabric in shades of purple and mauve. Personally, I would never have chosen those colors at first glance, perhaps because I imagined them too dark for such a cozy space, but I let myself be swayed by the owners' enthusiasm, and I must admit the result is very pleasant and original. The most challenging aspect of the project, however, was transforming the wooden benches, rather uncomfortable without cushions, into more comfortable seats without spending a fortune. The solution was ingenious: we created cushions as long as the benches, with Velcro sewn underneath to hold them securely. The bench had a small hollow in the center, which we filled with a full-length strip of Velcro on one side, while we sewed the opposite side to the cushions.

What a great ingenious solution!

The shape of the padding was custom-shaped to fit perfectly into the wall recesses. This was quite a demanding tailoring job, given that the seating spanned from 5 to 7 meters. The result? Perfectly fitted cushions, some five or seven meters long, some with recesses for protruding columns. A precision job that even Alessandro was pleased with.

The result was excellent: the chairs were so popular that, when we went to document the project with the photographer, four were missing because Alessandro used them in his home!

The velvet used is a fire-retardant, washable printed velvet with a mixed striped antique effect, perfect for the rustic and refined atmosphere of the hotel.

The Hotel La Baita project overcame initial challenges and the owners' meticulous attention to detail, proving to be a genuine success. Our priority is always guest satisfaction, and seeing their enthusiasm repays us for all our efforts.
