I remember when, as a child, I spent hours playing "Don't get angry" with my sister in the stube of the hotel where we usually spent our winter holidays as a family. I loved that atmosphere. It seemed like the setting of a Nordic fairy tale.
When we received the request from Hotel Cerana, I once again saw those two girls sitting at a solid wood table, which seemed gigantic in their eyes. They asked us to find an aesthetic and functional solution for the hotel's stube. The atmosphere is enchanting, warm, like something out of a fairy tale, but the owner let us know that some guests find that room uncomfortable due to the difficulty maneuvering the armchairs and accessing the benches.
Enchanting like in fairy tales.
The prototyping team proposed an ingenious custom solution. Starting from the Belfast armchair (BS575A), they designed a swivel system with an auto-return mechanism between the legs and the seat bottom. This freed up space for getting in and out of the benches, sitting down and getting up from the chairs, while keeping them neatly arranged around the table.
This project then led to the creation of the entire lobby, furnished with Chicago (BS594L) and Siviglia (BS622L) armchairs and sofas. The Chicago (BS594P) armchair model was modified, reducing the size of the armchairs to accommodate a greater number of seats and increasing the size of the sofas to accommodate a greater number of seats. The entire space was upholstered in a velvet with iridescent brown and gold tones, alternating with printed hues and geometric patterns. A redesign of the restaurant was also requested, which we furnished with Jefferson (BS629A) armchairs upholstered in antiqued velvet, also in brown and gold tones, and with the backs of the benches embellished with stitching for a quilted effect.
In the same style, we reupholstered the reception desk with a tufted finish in a brown velvet fabric and added our flagship Dublinoo ottoman (BS528BL).
